We fed Gwen solid food for the first time on Saturday. She seemed to really enjoy it, and she was remarkably good at feeding herself with the spoon for her first attempt. We also gave her water for the first time, and she even held the cup by herself!

Happy 6 Months, Gwen!

It makes me sad to think that in 35 more half-years Gwen will be off to college. Here's a few photos from the last couple of days, including one with her cowgirl fringe-jeans and boots.

Baby Steps 2

There's a post on the blog from a few months ago titled "Baby Steps" where Gwen takes a few steps in a video. Well, now she's really starting to get the hang of it - bending her knees and lifting up her feet.

Mueller Lake Park

On Saturday evening we went to a farmer's market at the new Mueller development. Mueller is the location of the old Austin airport which closed about 10 years ago. It's about a mile and a half from our house and 3 miles from downtown. The Mueller development has been an issue of much debate in Austin over the last several years. It's a rare opportunity for a major city to suddenly have an enormous stretch of land (about 800 acres) right in the heart of the city. I've been mostly excited, but sometimes skeptical of the new development.
The farmer's market was located near the new Mueller Lake Park. Just a few years ago there were airport runways right where the lake is now. It was a beautiful evening and the farmer's market was great. The new park is amazing, and we're really excited to have a new park close by. We didn't have the camera with us Saturday, but we went back Sunday night to take a few pictures. The houses in the distance are also part of the new development.

Marathon licked my face right before Megan took this one - in case you're wondering why I have that look on my face. I think it's funny how we each have a hand/paw on the ball.

Cutie

Megan took some great pictures of Gwen on Saturday morning. There's nothing we enjoy more than making Gwen smile and laugh.

Curly

If you curl Gwen's hair with your finger, it'll stay that way for while.
